v0.8.0 RELEASED - Battleground Levels WIP


At long last, we’re back to level/encounter design and playtesting. Combat actually runs pretty smoothly now. I’ve played through all 4 encounters a few times without crashes or hangups. Dying, yes, but no crashing! Your mileage may vary.

Hopefully I can finish the rest of 0.8.x in August; it’s basically just coding:

  • Finalize in-game editing + save/load
  • Finish porting from engine V1 (mostly VFX)
  • Finalize GUI system

Then I want to get v0.9.0 BETA out by October with all essential main quest content, finish artwork and sidequests by year’s end, and officially release sometime in 2023.

Changelog

  • Content:
    • New battleground levels (WIP) - main demo area for now
    • Guidestones level (WIP) - o7 to the hero(es) who destroyed them!
    • Detailed saucer UFO model (WIP)
    • Restored some scenes+models from v0.5
  • Cleanup:
    • Combat line-of-sight improvements & aiming options
    • Intimidation buffs from tactical gear etc
    • Travel/teleport code overhauled
  • Features completed:
    • Pickup items on floor, tables, etc
    • Drop items in inventory [X] (may be glitchy)
    • Player selection UI
    • Lighting fixes and flashing/flickering
    • Enemy spawning
  • Character Customization:
    • Height slider works (but with 3D glitches)
    • Hip Width slider works
    • Items/Structures are now somewhat customizable
