WIP Artwork: Angel Statue


I’m doing more artwork than coding now. Here’s my first high-detail scuplted model (1M triangles) with normal and occlusion textures baked onto a mid-poly (3,800 triangles) retopologized model for use in-game.

Mainly this is practice for modeling higher-quality animated characters. My next steps in that direction (after some level building) will be animals and one-off characters with built-in clothing and such. The sculpt-retopo-bake workflow should be great for experimenting with low-poly styles. Before I create the final customizable player character models with interchangeable clothing, I need to settle on a style that looks good but isn’t too time-consuming, expensive, or realistic.
